How to Sauna
While using the sauna it is popular to follow cycles of warming and cooling down on repeat. We suggest you do what feels right for your body. If the sauna feels too hot, leave. If the sauna feels stuffy, let fresh air in. As an example:
-
- Enter the sauna with friends, family or alone and sit on a towel.
- Sit warming up gently and getting used to the heat.
- If the Sauna is too hot and others agree open the door and let fresh air in.
- When you are ready, and fellow bathers agree, pour a ladle of water on the stones, releasing steam into the Sauna and creating Löyly. Take care not to catch your skin in the steam as you pour the water.
- Sit back and enjoy the steam and Löyly you have created.
- Repeat as you like and as your sauna companions agree.
- Leave the sauna when ready and sit to cool down or if you prefer take a cold dip or shower.
- Rest and repeat until it is time to leave.
