The Community Sauna Highland Team

Do you have the drive to see CSH thrive?  Are you ready to share responsibility for its development?  Then please get in contact about sharing the management of this vision with us.  Currently, our involvement is voluntary and we are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in operational management, building, carpentry, planning and/or marketing and community building.

Fergus Weir, CIC Director

I’ve lived in the Highlands for 26 years and I am an avid user and advocate for Sauna bathing practices. I designed and constructed a 4-person mobile Sauna in a horsebox, and more recently designed and built a 10-person sauna. I am a vocal advocate for the therapeutic health and well-being benefits that this thermal practice can bring.

Pippa Hembry, CIC Director

I previously lived in London and discovered the benefits of Sauna for myself at Community Sauna Baths CIC. I now live in Inverness. With the support of Community Sauna Baths (CBS) CIC and the UK Sauna community I am committed to sharing accessible sauna practice in the Highlands.

Fiina Narhi

I grew up in Finland where sauna is part of every-day life. My first memories of sauna are from sitting in a bucket of warm water on the floor of the sauna with my rubber ducks (that would follow me to the lake). Sauna remains an important part of my life, a place near nature where you could let any tension melt away, be quiet or have undisturbed conversations with people. I am really excited to make sauna more available and an everyday joy in Inverness.

Max Fourman

My first Sauna experience was at an outdoor centre as a kid: a converted shed on the shores of Loch Tay - not fancy but a great place to warm up after a cold dip! Since then I have enjoyed the growth of Sauna culture in the UK but there is still a lack of accessible, community based sauna options. I am really excited to be part of this project bringing community sauna to Inverness!

Emily Williams

I have always loved cold water swimming, and have loved being able to visit mobile saunas across the highlands. I am excited to be part of a community driven development that aims to build an accessible sauna within easy walking distance of where I live.

Jane Petersen

Being able to access an outdoor sauna has totally changed my experience of Highland winters for the better! There is something about getting toasty warm, listening to the crackle of a woodburning stove and stepping into a technology-free zone on a cold, January evening that is just magical. I am so excited to be part of a project that I think would contribute so much to the community and make this age-old practice available to more people.
